Look What I Saw!

Lookit what I saw in my backyard! Can you see it, under the Gumbo-limbo tree? It's a wood stork!
Here is another picture. The wood stork is with his friend the white ibis. Do you see both of them? I think the birds like to hang out in the shade. On account of it is roasting hot here.
There he goes! He can fly real good for a wooden stork. Maybe just his bones are made of wood.
Harley wanted to see the birds, too. But he was too late. He is usually a day late and a dollar short for most things.

Poor Harley, you will have to tell him all about it.We have never seen wooden storks which is probably a good thing because if we tried to catch them, we might get splinters.

Sweet Purrfections said...

Does the wood stork bring wood babies? This is a good question for Harley to investigate.

Daisy you are so lucky because you get such cool big birdies! We have a creek behind our house but the most interesting birdies we get are ducks. And we think you are probably right and the storks bones are the only wood part - the rest looked feathery to us.

And oh, poor Harley missing all the fun - but at least he didn't spoil your fun for a change!

Poor Harley missed all the excitement!

Katnip Lounge said...

Daisy, you are soooo lucky to get big birdies like that in your yard! Did you chatter at him? The biggest birds we get are fat pigeons and we are sure that someday soon we'll see if they are made out of wood or birdy. If we're lucky enough to snag one, that is!
Poor Harley! Better luck next time.

I'm usually a day late and three dollars short, so Harley shouldn't feel so bad.

I miss seeing the anhinga birds in SW Florida. they fascinate me. I think you'd like them too, Daisy. After they get all wet from swimming they stand with their wings out to dry themselves off.

Tammy said...

Boy Daisy! What a good eye you have...for seeing both of those big birdies! Chip would have LOVED to see those guys. On the other hand I think his sister (Tee-Tee) would have been scairted (is that how you spell it?).
