Good question. Mum thinks the answer might be anything that you do not want fur on, or a tat to sit on, or to clean up and put away - then the pussy cat will sit on it.
I think it's both, Daisy. I mean, cardboard has SUCH pro texturez ... and a box in general has SOOOOO much potential! It can be ANYTHING! A ship, an airplane, you name it! Which means the kitty sitting IN the box can be anything too! A pilot or a sailor or a race-car driver ...
VROOM VROOM!

PS - You look kinda ... stranded ... on that small piece of cardboard there. Better get a bigger one from your mommeh!
Boxes are good, regardless of what they are made of. Big paper bags, the old fashioned sort that hold their shape, are good, too - if you can find any more these days.
That's a conundrum and an interesting experiment. We believe it depends on the cat! Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
Or is it just sitting on things? My Grace always sits on my clothes when I leave them out.
ooooh, we just got a delivery from Lowes....their boxes have a castle drawing on the outside so you can cut out the windows and doors and it makes a cool box for the kitties! Hobbes is Sir Fatsalot today.
33 Notes for Daisy:
Hmm, that appears to be a 'not box'.
Cardboard is all right, but a box is WAY better!

Oh, I don't know, Daisy... The Gs will lay, sit, sleep and bathe upon anything that's on top of anything!
We like anything we can sit on, not just in.
It's definitely the box!
We think it's a little of both! We hope you get your box back, Daisy.
We like to sit in boxes AND put the bitey on them.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Goodness-you need that box back right now!

Box definitely is preferable to just a piece of cardboard. What was your mom thinking, destroying your box? Boo on mom!
Yeah, we believe it is both. Cardboard is good for sitting on or lying on, but only a box can be squooshed into.
We do like our boxes but if there isn't a box around, then we will take a piece of cardboard or even a piece of paper. Take good care.

From the looks of it, you definitely prefer a box...
I sure hope your mommeh gives you back your pretty red box! The measly scrap of cardboard is simply unacceptable.

Argh! She cut the box out from around you? We would be spitting mad!!!!

I like magazines too...but yeah, a box is the BEST!
You look very crabulated, Daisy!
The whole is greater than the sum of the parts, for sure!

Hmmm, you appear to be a touch crabilated there Daisy
We don't think a piece of cardboard is as satisfactory as the whole box. You obviously agree!
It looks like they're both popular choices!
We think the box is best but we'll take the cardboard if there is no other choice.

Its the box. Always the box. Boxes are great. Flat cardboard isn't.
