hey thanks for cleaning our home. bert and i like to have new toys and stuff to chew up. and raisins. 

we like mealworms too. theyre crunchy. iffen you close your eyes they taste even better.

nothing like a refreshing lick of water to wash down a juicy worm with.

bert wants to show you his white gloves.  they are not really gloves. but he is proud of them.

i think you will agree that i am the most handsome gerbil. right?

Bert & Ernie Explore

Daisy: Here are my pets, Bert and Ernie! They live in a 20 gallon aquarium. When it is time to clean their cage, they have to go in this little plastic cage for a few minutes. Here they are ready to go back in and explore their newly-cleaned home!

They get Carefresh bedding mixed with aspen shavings and a handful of Timothy hay. There are also toys like wooden sticks, wood blocks, and pieces of cardboard to chew up. Those toys sound a little bit boring! Gerbils love to burrow, and they especially have fun exploring their home after it has been cleaned and rearranged. Here Ernie found a piece of dried carrot! They eat from a bowl, but there are also bits of food scattered around for foraging fun.

After doing all that burrowing, Ernie's hair got a little bit messy. It looks like he has a tiny mohawk!

This is Ernie. He is a Mongolian gerbil. Sometimes gerbils do funny things! Gerbils will thump their back feet to warn other gerbils of danger.

A Gerbil Halloween

me and bert woke up today and saw a GHOST! i think he rode in here on that little broom. we huddled together for a second because we were scairted!

but then i noticed something about this ghost... he has a very yummy smell!

his head is filled with seeds and raisins and dried berries! so i eated his brains. I like Halloween!

Bert & Ernie's New Bowl

bert and i got this new bowl for our foodses. i'm sitting inside and posing so you can see my pretty, pretty furs. i am a spotted agouti gerbil, so this makes white spots in my coats, and it also makes my furs a lighter color. do you think i am pretty, even though i am a boy? i has long fingernailz!

i am trying to figure out how to use this new bowl. the side seems very high...

oh, i see! you supposed to eat from the lower side. bert is waiting his turn in line.

okay, bert, you can belly up to the foods. don't eat everything all up!

i'll go chew up some cardboards until it is my turn to eat some more. my favorite treats are raisins. and pumpkin seeds. and dried mealworms. and brockli. and bananners.

Box O' Bits

it is bert and ernie here again! we want to show you our special new present... a Box O' Bits! it has a cardboard box to chew all up and hay and treats inside!

hey bert, look what we got! ::clap, clap, clap::
ernie, sniff the holes in the box and see what is inside there!
nom, nom, nom... we are eating the treats we got out from the Box O' Bits.
all that is left is some hay and scraps of cardboard.

ohai! it is me, ernie! i am just having a snack. do you like to chew stuff up? i do! especially cardboards. ps, do you see my puffy tail?

i could chew on stuff for hours... and i do! here is a real good piece of cardboard.
bert wants to chew some stuff up, too. okay bert, you can join me.
