Photo Hunters: Hanging

The Photo Hunters theme this week is hanging. I have some very exciting news to announce: after days of my chrysalides hanging around in the Butterfly Garden Habitat, my butterflies were borned! I have FIVE Painted Lady butterflies!
They spend a lot of time hanging from the mesh sides of the habitat.
I like to keep a close eye on my new pets. At first I was a little worried about all that red stuff. I thought it could be BLOOD! But I read that it is leftover color and unneeded tissues from the butterfly's wing formation.
Aren't they beautiful? They can eat from this orange slice.
This brave one came right up to meet me! His name is Charlie.
I am very excited that I got to witness the entire transformation from caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly. It is like a tiny miracle of nature. But I am also a little bit sad, because my Mommie told me that I will have to release them Outside soon. None of my pets seem to stick around very long.

What beautiful butterflies. Don't be sad Daisy, the butterflies have had a good start in life because of your good care and will have a happy life outside when it's time for them to be free. When you do release them you can make a wish for them to carry away into the sky on their pretty wings :D

Oh, they are beautiful Daisy.

Think of it this way you were a successful foster Mom and your chicks (butterflies) are leaving the nest like they are suppose too.

Maybe you will see them in the yard sometimes when you go for walks or strollering. ~Socks, Scylla & Charybdis

Daisy, your butterflies are beautiful. At least this time you will know that you are releasing them to live outside where they can make more butterflies. Maybe you should get a grow your own tadpole or get a beta fish as your next pet. They live a long time (at least longer than the jumping beans or Sea Monkeys).

I always want to comment on your blog but you are so very popular with your 40+ comments that I always think you'll never have time to read mine! But here goes anyway...

Congratulations on the borning of your butterflies! Just think, it's like two pets in one! I'm sorry you have to let them go though. Maybe they'll come round your back yard again to visit you from time to time. My dad raises turkeys and releases them to the wild. Sometimes they DO come back to visit him!

Good luck! See if Charlie likes giving High Fives...but be very gentle, Miss Daisy!
