Giving and Receiving
A couple of weeks ago, I was one of the winners in Baby Patches' Halloween Costume Contest. Here is one of the presents I picked out for my prize: a new Cat Dancer! This is one of my most favorite toys of all time, and our old one was getting worn out.
I had tons of funs playing with it!
And Harley had a good time, too!
And our prizes came in the perfect box. If you combine a box with a toy, you can DOUBLE your good time!
Thanks, Baby Patches! After I got tired of playing, I started thinking about all the kitties in shelters who don't have such a good time. I'll bet they would LOVE some toys and treats for Christmas!
So Harley and I decided to donate to the Santa Paws Drive! It is a Christmas toy drive dedicated to helping dogs and cats. Six different shelters will benefit! You can choose to donate money (starting from only one green paper!) or toys. Harley and I picked out the big cat gift bundle. After we donated, we felt very happy inside. We hope some kitties will have a little bit of extra holiday joy this season.

Great idea - we have one of those cat dancer toys too. we also are trying to help save some kitties from death row - info on our blog.
I used to have a "Cat Dancer" too but it broke :(
Now my new fave is a rubber pom pom on the end of a wire wand (kind of like the "Cat Dancer")

Cordelia Joy *loves* her Cat Dancer toy! I had to buy a new one to have on hand 'just in case'. I think it's lovely that you donated to a good cause! I'm going to donate to our local organization-PAW this year. I'm hoping to do approx. 5 dollars for each adult person I have to buy for this year (parents, in-laws, spouse)-and my two kitties too! Concats on winning the competition. We have never seen one of those toys but we know most kitties love them.
Every year mum looks through all our toys to see what we don't play with any more. Then she washes them and when they are dry she marinates them in nip. Then she puts them in a package with lots of packets of treats and takes them to the local shelter for the kitties for Christmas.

Oh, we like the cat dancer here too! Our grandma volunteers at a shelter and she makes sure all the kitties get LOTS of loving and playtime. She said a lot of the volunteers like the dogs, so she is known as the "cat lady" there. I'm sure all those kitties at the shelter will love new toys.
We have to get Meowm to get us a cat dancer!

My kitties like homemade toys best - you know like candy and gum wrappers and any little bit of crinkly paper...Silly kitties!

Love your snuggly hat! I think the ear flaps are so you do not have to hear the constant meowing from little brothers... no matter how huge they are!
Mom gives food and toys to the shelter several times a year. It makes all of us feel very content

This is a geat idea Daisy, we will get our Mommy to donate, too. We give our old towels and blankies and beds to our vet, who passes them on the homeless folks who have pets (he does charity vet care).
