Happy Memorial Day!

For Memorial Day, I wanted to share something very, very special with you. This is the flag from my Grampa's (my Mommie's Dad) military funeral. He died in 2001 before I was borned, so I never got to meet him. I am sad about that. But I am very proud of the service he provided to our country. My Grampa was a Master Paratrooper. Then he went to Officer Candidate School, and then to flight school. After he got his wings, he went to Vietnam and flew Caribou transport planes. He was very brave and got many medals. My Grampa served almost 15 years in the Army, and after he resigned his commission, he became a commercial airline pilot for Western Airlines, and then for Delta Airlines until he retired. I wish I could have met my Grampa.
I hope you all have a very wonderful Memorial Day!

It was a wonderful thing your Grandpa did, serving his country. :) My dad has his paratrooper's wings too - he's an airborne engineer!

In Canada, we celebrate all those who served in the past and who serve today, on Remembrance Day, November 11th. Today is not a Canadian holiday.

That is a very special tribute to a special man on Memorial Day, Daisy. I am very glad to hear your Grandpa lived a long life after serving in the Military. Maybe MY Mom even flew on a plane he was piloting!
Happy Memorial Day to all your family.

This is a great tribute to your grampa. Our grampa (daddy's) jumped out of planes. my mommie's grampa was taken up by the Nazi's and ordered to work in Germany.

I bet you have lots of pictures of him, so you can imagine sitting on his lap and him petting your fuzzy little head.

Have a happy Day Daisy!

That is so sweet of you Daisy! What wonderful photos of you honoring your Grandpa's flag.

Our Grandpa was in WWII in Africa and Italy. Then he was in the reserves until sometime in the 60s. He died in 2000 and Maw's nephew got his flag.

That's very interesting about your Grandpa. I was going to talk about my humans' fathers who were both veterans today and have passed on, but they had no photos! Sigh. Neither of them were a PARATROOPER which sounds very brave!

My mombean's dad was in the Army too. But he was stationed in Germany like Dragonheart's dadbean. Now he lives in Mass-achoo-sits with my cousinkitties.

This is a good day to remember all the beans who served. Do you think there were any kitties in the Army?

Dear Daisy,

What a lovely patriotic photo! You should be proud of your grampa, even if you didn't know him.

My pet human comments on a blog which attracts a wide variety of liberals and conservatives. She just said, whatever our politics, we can set that aside, at least for today, and support our troops.

Best wishes, Daisy!
