How We Stay Warm

This is how Harley and I are staying warm during the recent super-cold weather. Normally I refuse to go into my heated cat cup. But my Mommeh put my heated bed on the counter, next to where she works on the computer and I like it! See the electrical cord? Then, my favorite blanket goes on top to keep all the heat in! Harley wanted to go in the cup, too, but he is too big. So he just sits on the blankie.
And now, Harley and I would like to share a story about some very special cats who could use some help. This is Lenox. He is blind, but he doesn't even realize he is different!
This is his brother, Diamond. Diamond has only one good eye, and he acts as Lenox's seeing-eye cat.
Here is what I learned about these adorable cats from Your Daily Cute:

Both of these sweet babies were adopted as kittens and had the best daddy in the world. He loved them dearly and they adjusted better than anyone could have hoped. But then their daddy lost his job and as a last resort had to move back in with his parents in New York. His mom absolutely refused to take the cats in. He was crushed!!

Luckily, though, the shelter they were adopted from (Animal Aid ) offered to take them back in and care for them. He reluctantly took them back and they are in a foster home now -- and have once again adjusted amazingly! They really are quite a pair.

So now Lenox and Diamond are in search of a forever home again. A real forever home. They must go together as they are used to having each other to depend on. Neither one knows they are missing anything, and together they are the dynamic duo!

These babies are too special to not have a mommy and daddy to shower them with love and attention. They need a real home, where they can live the life they deserve. Let's get together and find them one!

If you or anyone you know might be able to give them a loving home, please email Dorian at dorian(at)yourdailycute(dot)com, or tweet Your Daily Cute, or Facebook Your Daily Cute or contact their friend at Animal Aid at LeeSparkman(at)aol(dot)com or call Lee at 754-366 8072. Animal Aid (and Lenox and Diamond!) is located in South Florida.

You can also see more photos and read a lot more about these special kitties at Your Daily Cute. Good luck Lenox and Diamond!

I get to play Santa Claws!

Today I am wearing my Santa Claws suit so I can help spread a little holiday cheer. I am very proud to be a part of this special program just for my readers! You can help animals in need and also get a great deal in time for the holidays.
You might remember when I wrote about the "I'm Tired of Animal Cruelty" bracelet we bought a few months ago. My Mommeh is proud to wear her bracelet, because up to half of the sale of every bracelet goes to help animals, and it is a cool eco-friendly bracelet made of recycled tires! Now, in addition to the "I'm tired of animal cruelty" bracelet, there are four more designs that support animal causes. The other causes are puppy mills, hungry animals, homeless animals, and breed specific legislation. For each "I'm Tired of Hungry Animals" bracelet, ten bowls of food will be donated!
Well, here is the special deal: For every three animal cause bracelets you buy, you will get a free "I'm Tired of Animal Cruelty" bracelet! How does it work? Just go to the I'm Tired of... Loves Animals page and select three bracelets. When you check out, there will be a "How did you hear about us" box. Just enter the code DAISY when you check out to get your free bracelet!
Here is some more stuff you should know: All free bracelets will be Women's size. Don't order your free bracelet, just the three that you are buying. ITo will automatically ship the free bracelet with your order. The free bracelet will not be listed on your confirmation e-mail, but rest assured that it will be included with your order.
We did not get any compensation for this post. We are proud to support helping animals!

ps: I forgot to mention that this offer is good through December 21st.

Can you help some buddies in need?

Today I am hoping for a little holiday miracle. Can anyone help a pair of cats in need? This is a story about Minnie and Lucky, a pair of 8 year old brother and sister cats in need of a Forever home so they do not have to go to the shelter.
This is Minnie, a beautiful house panther.
And this is her brother, Lucky. He is hoping he can live up to his name!
This sweet and affectionate pair live in the western Chicago suburbs. Their owner is moving into a home with an allergic child and can no longer keep them. If you can find room in your heart and home for this pair, who must be adopted together, the owner is willing to give you food and litter for a year, as well as funds to help with any expenses.

If you would like more details, or know someone who might be interested, please contact Julia at idothingATgmailDOTcom.

Lending a Helping Paw

You might remember last week I had a poll so you could help me spend my moneys helping other cats? Well, the results were very, very close! 37% voted for me to buy treats for the shelter cats, and 34% voted for me to buy toys for the shelter cats. So, guess what? My Mommie agreed to match my moneys so I could do BOTH! Here are the toys and treats we got for the kitties at Cats Exclusive, a no-kill shelter for cats:
When my Mommie was at the shelter yesterday, she gave the toys and treats to the cats. Here are some photos! All of these kitties are waiting for their Forever homes.

First is the adorable Cheesecake. He got the gray mousie, and you can see he is hugging and squeezing it tightly. He loves toys! And here is Panda with another one of the toys. Panda has a sister named Amanda. They are both very sweet!
This is Miles. He's a big Mancat! My Mommie gave him a Squeaky Mouse, because it's one of Harley's favorite toys. Miles is front declawed, and he is one of the gentlest cats around.
This is Princess. She is enjoying some of the delicious Temptations in her hammock. Eating in bed is a special treat.
Snowball is funny! He likes Temptations, too.
Next it is Jo Jo's turn for some treats. She is very gentle, and she loves people. Her friend Jack is in the background waiting his turn! My Mommie thinks he has a very adorable face.
And now it is Jack's turn for treats. Montey is waiting right behind Jack.
And last, but not least, is Black Jack! He's the manliest of Mancats. His friends call him BJ. You can see he already ate his pile of Temptations, and nothing is left but the crumbs!

Texas' Last Dare

My friends at The Cat Realm are having a "Get Involved" dare. Before he left for the Bridge, Texas came up with this Dare: We, Texas and The Cat Realm, dare you all to do something to raise money for cancer research, especially for cats:
  • Donate
  • Volunteer somewhere
  • Put a link to a site on your blog
  • Take the Petey Challenge
  • Or, whatever else you can come up with to help
Here are some reputable sites you could use:
Winn Feline Foundation
The CSU Animal Cancer Center

I have been thinking very hard about this. My Mommie already volunteers three mornings a week at a no-kill cat rescue shelter. We also support the Winn Feline Foundation because of their research into feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which is the disease that Pixie has. So, I came up with an idea! I can donate some of my toys to the cats at the shelter!

I hardly have any toys, but I will see if I can spare some...
At first, I chose these three toys. But then my Mommie said it was Not Right for me to choose my spider toy, which is old and chewed up, and two other toys that I do not play with. I must pick good toys, she said. And I must donate at least eight toys.
Finally, I picked these toys. I have not even played with some of them! Pixie decided to give away one of her catnip bananers.
Now I will gather up my toys and give them one last hug and a bunny-kick. Now they are on their way to the shelter! Let's see what happened...
Here is Montey posing with the bulldog toy. Montey was borned at the shelter, but he still has not been adopted.
Then, Hannah stoled the bulldog toy. She is resting after playing hard!
IQ and Mooch are snuggling with the gray mousie toy.
And here is Mama! She wanted to play with the purple stringy-legged toy!
Here are Buddy and Gin. They were adopted together and then returned after about 6 months. I guess it was a "Just for a While" home and not a Forever home for them. They are trying to get used to being back in the shelter now. Buddy and Gin have one of the little mousie toys to keep them company.
They look a little bit sad. I am glad I gave them some of my toys. I think I will give more toys, later! Because, even though I miss my toys, I feel happy inside that I could help some cats who do not have a good home yet.
