Thoughts on Thursday: Little Brothers are Pesky!

I am learning a lot of things about having a little brother. Mostly, that they can be very pesky! Harley is always around. Here I am trying to ignore him.

He even follows me into the potty! Can you see my litterbox? It is in the bathtub in the guest bathroom. Harley, stay OUT! I need my privacy.

Harley, go away! I have important things to do.
Now he is chasing me down the stairs. Good grief!
Harley, do not look at my Spot #13. That is a little bit rude.
I am sneaking into the food pantry and playing around with the cat foods, when...

Harley followed me AGAIN! How can I be sneaky with a little brother always around? Harley is spoiling my good time.

Today, we thought we would show you some of the beautiful faces you can find in your local shelter. All of these cats are from Cats Exclusive, a no-kill shelter for cats only, where my Mommie volunteers. Every shelter is filled with beautiful faces like these, waiting for a Forever home.

Thoughts on Thursday: Jumping Beans Make Boring Pets

I have been thinking about my Jumping Bean pets, and I must be honest about them. They are more fun than my Sea Monkeys, but I do not think they are ideal pets. I will explain why. I hope this does not hurt my Beans' feelings. First, and most importantly, my Jumping Beans are not good at playing. I wanted to play a game of Catnip Carrot, and but my Jumping Bean would not play. He just sat there. He did not even jump!

I must also report that my Jumping Beans are not good at making conversation. Here I am waiting for my Jumping Bean to speak. He never did. Not even a single click.

Next I learned that you cannot train a Jumping Bean to use a litter box. In fact, I have never even seen my Jumping Beans go potty. I even put him in my litter box, but he did not perform.

Here is something even more disappointing: Jumping Beans do not enjoy dressing up. Not even in cute Hello Kitty fashions.

And the worst thing of all, Jumping Beans do not enjoy cuddling and napping with me.

So, I have concluded that Jumping Beans are better pets than Sea Monkeys. But just barely.

Thoughts on Thursday: On Being Curly

Last week, I got an e-mail requesting that I post some photos that show the curliness of my furs! My furs are really more wavy than curly. Here is what the CFA breed standard says about Devon Rex fur:

COAT: Density: the cat is well covered with fur, with the greatest density occurring on the back, sides, tail, legs, face, and ears. Slightly less density is permitted on the top of head, neck, chest, and abdomen. Bare patches are a fault in kittens and a serious fault in adults; however the existence of down on the underparts of the body should not be misinterpreted as bareness. Sparse hair on the temples (forehead in front of the ears) is not a fault. Texture: the coat is soft, fine, full-bodied, and rexed (i.e., appearing to be without guard hairs). Length: the coat is short on the back, sides, upper legs, and tail. It is very short on the head, ears, neck, paws, chest, and abdomen. Kittens may have very short fur all over; even if not long enough to wave, it must cover the kitten evenly, so that no bare patches are evident. Waviness: a rippled wave effect should be apparent when the coat is smoothed with one's hand. The wave is most evident where the coat is the longest, on the body and tail.

Here I think you can see the waviness of my furs. My furs feel kind of soft and downy/cottony, and I hardly shed at all!

Even my whiskers are curly! My whiskers tend to be brittle and snap off easily. For some reason, the whiskers on just the right side of my face are very short and broken. Maybe I sleep more on that side. I am not sure.

Here is my undercarriage. My tummy is mostly white, but I have this funny darker spot.

Um, pretend that I am not about to give the bitey to my Mommie's finger here. I think this photo shows my extra-curly neck furs.

My fur color is called "Dilute Calico." Here you can see all the colors of my furs, and even the frizzledy furs inside my ears.

Thoughts on Thursday: Truth in Advertising

Today we are going to learn about Truth in Advertising by conducting a little experiment. Here is a package of Magic Grow Super Size. The package says just drop in water and it grows and grows. SUPER SIZE! I have selected the magic lizard for this experiment.

Here is our container of water. I am carefully inspecting the "before" lizard. He is nothing special. I cannot wait for him to grow SUPER SIZE!

Here he is in the water. I tapped on the glass, but he did not move. I guess he grows very slowly. Now we must wait, and wait, and wait, and wait.... for days. This is the hard part.

At last, he is done growing. Hmmm. I am a little suspicious. Because he does not look SUPER SIZE.

Let's take him out of the water and look closely. Yep, he is just Average Sized now.
Let me check the package again...
It says he is supposed to grow to INCREDIBLE SIZE!

I am disappointed in my Magic Grow Super Size. But if this toy was called "Magic Grow Average Size" then I might not have bought him. I feel a little bit sad that I wasted my allowance.

My thoughts today: Manners are important. If you leave poops behind, people will think that you do not have good manners. Lizards are bad because they leave poops everywhere. Yuck!

Here is what I have been thinking today: you know that bugs and lizards and snakes will sometimes come Inside so you can play fun games together like "Chomp You Up," "Remove the Tail" and "Chase and Eat." Something I have learned about birds: no matter how much you ask them, they will not come Inside the house to play. This makes them Party Poopers. I have video proof of this. You might need to turn up your volume.

Today's thought: If there is a scairty intruder Outside... ... feel free to taunt and heckle him.
If the scairty intruder gets on the Inside, look at him carefully.
Try to touch his skin.
Taste him if you can.
Then, bite him in the head.
If this does not work, you may need to call the police.
