Whiskerless Wednesday

It is me again, Pixie. The whiskers on Devon Rex cats can become very brittle and break off. I used to have long curly whiskers, but now I just have little whisker nubs. I have a few whiskers left in my eyebrows. See how soft my fur looks? If you click to enlarge, you can see the frizzly hairs in my ears too!

ps: Daisy seems a little bit worried and preoccupied today. I have seen her in the office studying a book called "101 Ways to Git and Keep yer Man." And she is taking lots of notes.

Tummy Tuesday

These pictures were taken a few days ago. I am enjoying laying on my sleeping bag in the sun. I don't usually spend so much time laying on my back, but it felt good because of my ouchie. Maybe I can get a tan!
Here is a close up of my ouchie. There are little X's holding it together. If you want, you can play tic-tac-toe on my tummy. I hope my fur grows back soon.

Still laying in the sun. I am looking at my Mommie upside-down again. Things look funny that way! The next best thing to climbing high is looking at things upside-down.
I have been feeling so much better the last couple of days! I am out of seclusion, and have free run of the place again. Once I get my sutures out I will be good as new. Except for my scar. Maybe I can say I got the scar when I was at the wild animal park and a wildebeest charged me! Do you think anyone will believe me?

Movie Monday: BIG TOP DAISY!

I would like to take all my great friends out to the circus, where I perform my death-defying stunts. Please help yourselves to some peanuts and cotton candy, turn up the music and enjoy. This movie is rated G. However, you should know that the final scene may be too intense for younger viewers.

ps: This movie was filmed before my operation, so I am not hurting my sutures when I perform. I am starting to feel much better, so pretty soon I can do the Feline Cannonball again! (and you know how I love to get high!)

Another Weekend Adventure!

While I recuperate, I have been going through my scrapbooks. Here is a fun adventure I had a while ago.

My Mommie and Daddie stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge one time. From the hotel rooms, you can see WILD ANIMALS! This is a view from the balcony in their hotel room.

This was another place where cats were Not Allowed. Since I am good at stowing away, this time I snuck into my Mommie's luggage because I wanted to see the animals for myself. I was a little afraid of the giraffes, so I hid behind this clump of grass. But, they didn't hurt me. I stayed away from the wildebeest. His name was George.

Professor Daisy's Tip for Cats: If you sneak into a wild animal park, you should hide behind some grass until you are sure the animals are friendly. Giraffe are OK though.

Photo Hunters #3: SILVER

When I went in my stroller last week, I saw this giant spiderweb. It was early in the morning, and to me, it looked like the web was made of beautiful glittery silver threads. You can even see the spider in his web! Eeek! That is the edge of the everglades in the background. This photo was taken just at sunrise.

I also wanted to post a picture of my beautiful stroller because it has SILVER trim! I love my stroller. I do not know if it is real silver, but it might be because my stroller is so great. Can you see me peeking out?

Frootbat Friday

I like this picture because you can see the curly hairs inside my ears. They are all frizzly (click to enlarge and you will see!)

I know it looks like I am very pensive in this photo, but it is really just the drugs....

I am HOME!

I am very happy to be home! I am supposed to remain on strict rest for 7 days. That means confined to ONE room. My Mommie set me up in her room: she put my sleeping bag by my favorite window, my food and water within easy reach, and the litter box is in there too. See, I don't even have to get out of bed to eat!
Here I am using my scratching post without standing up. Now that is taking it easy!
I have some very good drugs.....
Here are all of my medications. The new special food is GOOD!
My Mommie said that she is cancelling all her plans for today, and will spend the day sitting with me. YAY! I have been reading all of the nice comments from everycat. You are the best friends ever, and it really cheered me up a lot. Thanks for thinking of me. I am going to take a little nap now...........

One more night in the hospital....

I am reporting from the hospital where I am staying ANOTHER night. My Mommie came to visit me, and as you can see, I was very, very MAD. I gave the laser beam eyes. But she was not afraid of me.
After I settled down, I let her pet me. It was nice. I was sad when she had to leave.
And LOOK! At the flowers I got from my very great, great friend Skeezix. There are some daisies in there too. My favorite. The balloon says "Bounce back soon!" That is what I plan to do.
My Mommie has told me about all of the very nice things my friends have written to help me get better. That makes me happy. I can't wait to get back home so I can visit with you all. Also, I wanted to mention that the staff at Wiles Road Animal Hospital are very nice. They let my Mommie visit with me. They gave me stinky goodness to eat.

I am taking over!

My Mommie wanted me to thank everyone again for all of their good wishes for Daisy. I don't think there is a nicer group than the cat blogging community. Everycat has been so kind and supportive, it really helps! Even I miss the kid. We are counting the minutes until she gets home later today.

Since Daisy is still in the hospital, I am taking over. I am starting to like being in charge. In keeping with my new position, I am wearing an outfit suitable for a Queen! Here is a beautiful pink satin cape, with white fur trim. I am wearing this with a strand of pearls. I feel very proud of myself.

UPDATE:
The doctor said that Daisy is doing well clinically, but she is pretty painful. So, they need her to stay over another night so they can do some "pain management." I think that means they are giving her some good drugs. My Mommie is sad, because Daisy is very scairt to be there and hiding under her blanket. They said she can visit later this afternoon.

Please keep Daisy in your thoughts today...

This is Daisy's Mommie reporting. Daisy went back to see the doctor today to make sure the special prescription diet was working to dissolve her bladder stones. Unfortunately, it did not help. So she is currently still at the vet's office awaiting surgery today. She will have an incision in her abdomen, and they will go into her bladder to remove the stones. After that she will have to remain on a special Ph neutral diet for the rest of her life. Her surgery is scheduled for about 1:00 EST. She will get to go home late tomorrow afternoon. The doctor will call me after she is out of surgery to report on how Daisy is doing.

I feel terrible, because I told Daisy she was just going in for an X-ray! I had no idea she would be having surgery this afternoon. Daisy tried to act brave, and put on her scowly face, but she was shaking and her paws were all sweaty. She didn't even get to go out in her stroller today. The house is very, very quiet without the little curly clown running around here. I will post an update later.

ps: Please take a look at Pixie's post for today, below. She was very proud that she got to do her very own post since Daisy was not able to today.

UPDATE:
I just got a call from the vet. The surgery went well! Daisy is in recovery, and is still very groggy. The x-rays showed that all of the stones were removed. She will remain on fluids for the rest of the day, and if she is still doing okay, she can go home tomorrow at about 2:00 EST. Thanks for all of your good wishes!

Another UPDATE:
The doctor called again. She said that Daisy is doing fine, but is not happy about being in the hospital, and is hiding underneath her blanket. When they put her back on top of her blanket, she crawls back under again. She will go home tomorrow afternoon with antibiotics and pain medication. That's my Daisy!

Toesday with Pixie!

My little sister, Daisy, had to go back to the V-E-T today. They are taking another x-ray to see if the special diet dissolved her bladder stones. Since she is busy today, I will try to take over for her. Remember, I have very severe cardiomyopathy and take many medicines each day, so I am sorry that I am not as cute and little as Daisy. I am still a good cat though.
Because it is Toesday, and I am a very experienced 11-year-old girl, I would like to demonstrate the proper method for cleaning your toes. Below is a step-by-step guide. Let me know if you have any questions!

PS: We will post an update on Daisy later on. If the special diet did not dissolve her stones, she will need to have surgery. So I am crossing my very clean toes and saying a little prayer for her.

Look! Another LIZARD!!!!!!

Here is a lizard I saw on my balcony. I immediately went into hunter mode. But, the piece of glass protected him, and I could not get the lizard. So, I communicated with him telepathically:

Daisy: Hey! Lizard! What is yer name?
Lizard: Huh?! Me? My name is George.
Daisy: Thinks to self: very strange, that is the same name as the woodpecker I saw!
Daisy: George! Come inside and play with me.
Lizard: No thanks.
Daisy: Please?! I can hyp-no-tize you. It will be FUN!
Lizard: No thanks.
Daisy: RATS! Foiled again.

More Weekend Adventures

This is a picture from when my Mommie and Daddie hiked to the top of Old Rag Mountain last year. Old Rag Mountain is located in the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. There are some very large rocks there that are FUN to climb. I do not know why it has that funny name because I did not see any old rags there.

I heard that it is very beautiful there, but Mommie would not let me go. So, I secretly followed her! Here I am posing at the summit. My legs were tired when I was done.

Professor Daisy's Tip for Cats: If you secretly climb a mountain, do not fall off! Or, you might not get rescued. A GPS might help you though.

You can dress me in fluffy pink sweaters. You can take me out in a stroller. You can feed me Science Diet. But deep inside will always remain the heart and soul of a hunter.

Fahion Show Friday: My yellow sundress!!

Here is my brand-new sundress! I got it on the sale rack. Isn't it pretty? It is not pink, but I think yellow is a good color too.

Here is a view of the back of my sundress. See the detailed embroidery? There is even a little bow on the back, and straps that criss-cross in front.
It also comes with this sunbonnet that ties in the front with a silk ribbon. It has holes for my ears to stick out of. I feel very pretty when I wear my new sundress. Do you think the sunbonnet makes my ears look too big?
The only bad part about this dress is I have to be careful when I am playing so I don't get my new outfit dirty. So, I will not wear this outfit very often.

Professor Daisy's Tip for Cats: It is best if yer outfits are wash 'n wear so you can play rough in them if you want. Also, do not be afraid to shop the sale racks.

Thursday Thirteen, edition #5

Here are thirteen of my favorite TOYS, in no particular order:

1. My fuzzy, feathery, catnip-filled carrot. This one is fun AND healthy, in case yer Mommie wants you to eat more vegetables.

2. This is called a Wooley Bully. "He's a mess, he's a mouse again!" This toy is made of wool. When it gets all fuzzed-up, you put it in a sock, and run him through the washing machine, and he is good as new! I think mine is due for the washing machine about now. (If I put myself in the washer, do you think my fur would get less fuzzed up?)

3. This one is fun and delicious! Get someone to fill it with treats. Then, when you roll the ball around, food comes out of the rat's mouth! I never ate food out of a rat's mouth before I got this toy.

4. This is my weird stripey mouse or rabbit. I am not sure what he is, but he is FUN. And, he has very crazy googlie eyes.

5. The fabulous Cat Dancer! It never danced with me though.

6. Cat Nip. Need I say more?

7. Here is my very soft fluffy bear, filled with cat nip. I like him lots. He has one brown foot. Maybe he stepped in mud. Or something worse.

8. This is my fishie with twine in the middle. He is fun to kick around.

9. My Crackler tick. He makes a great crackly noise. And, he stays crackly even when wet!

10. The old stand-by, fake fuzzy mouse. With real fur.

11. I don't know what this is called. It has two holes in it, and a ball inside. It is fun to stick yer paws into the holes to try to get the ball! It is kind of a trick though, because yer paw cannot fit back out once you are holding the ball!

12. Jacks fer cats.

13. I don't know what his name is. He has six arms, and antennae. There is cat nip inside. I like to kick him. He never kicks me back though. That must mean he is good.

Whiskery Wednesday

I love to look at things upside down! It makes everything look funny. My Mommie was trying to take pictures of my curly whiskers, and whenever she would call my name, I looked at her like this:

Can you see my curly whiskers here? They are white, and pretty fine, so it is hard to take a picture of them. If you click to enlarge, maybe you can see them better.
