Messy Me!

Ok, here is my slightly unladylike side. It is not pretty, but I love my stinky goodness. We found out that my bladder stones were oxalate, not struvite, stones. So, now I am eating a prescription diet of Hills' X/D. Since my sister Pixie is Not Allowed to eat this food, I get to eat on the counter! (but not near where any food is prepared).
If you click to enlarge this one, you might be sorry! Here I am with food stuck to my face. And my eye is watering a little because the food is so good. YUMMMMMMM!
And, just so you know, Pixie is no dainty eater either. Here she is taking a gigantic CHOMP out of her foods.

Tuesday Tips: Sleeping Bag Demonstration

Here I am demonstrating the proper form for sleeping bag entry. First you stick your head inside, then you move all the way to the rear of the bag. Once you are fully encased, you may turn around and stick your head out.

Of course, if it is too warm, you may lay on top of your sleeping bag and groom. And, I had to show a tummy picture for Tummy Tuesday!

Pixie, I am very very very very sorry!

My sister Pixie just got her prize package for winning Skeezix's Valentine's Day contest. This was very exciting. And things sort of got out of hand. Here is Pixie checking out the prize package. She liked the pink boa! Here are all of the wonderful goodies she got! You can see that she is very happy here. There are special treats, dinner, toys, and movies. She can enjoy this with her valentine, Icon.
At first, I just wanted to check out what she got. You know, just to make sure everything was safe.
Things started to go bad when I got into the catnip...
I couldn't control myself! See, I got the crazy eyes! I rolled around! I scratched! I bunny kicked! I bit! I went WILD.
Anyway, I ended up making a huge mess of all the great presents. I chewed holes in the bag of catnip. I made some of the feathers fall off the boa. And I got the pink grass everywhere. I am very ashamed of myself. I should know better; after all, I am three now. I got sent to time out. Here is Pixie, surveying the damage. I hope she will forgive me. And I hope Skeezix still likes me even after he finds out how bad I was. I am very disappointed in myself. I guess I should stay away from the catnip.
Skeezix, thank you again for the great contest and prizes. You are the BEST! And I am very sorry for what I did.

Photo Hunters #7: SOFT

The Photo Hunters theme this week is: soft. I was going to post a photo of my soft, curly furs. But instead, I decided to show a picture of the inside of my new sleeping bag. It is lined in very, very soft pink faux fur. And I just woke up from a nap, so I have a soft, sleepy expression on my face. I love my new sleeping bag!

In case you were wondering what I was dreaming about, click here and you will see!

Fashion Show Friday: Pixie's new robe!

Here is my sister, Pixie, modeling the new pink robe she got as a prize for winning Skeezix's Valentine's Day Contest, with her Valentine to Icon. It is beautiful pink satin, lined in terry cloth, with very soft faux fur trim. I do not think Pixie is very happy wearing the robe. See, she has her "hat" on. I think I might need to borrow the fabulous robe from her....
Here is another view of the beautiful robe. Yes, the more I think about it, that robe would look better on me. Far, far better.
Thanks again Skeezix, for the great VD contest. It was FUN!

My new Sea Monkey pet!

Even though my Mommie said that the Sea Monkeys were not good pets, I decided to do some more research. I think she might have been wrong! Because I found out that they CAN do tricks:
__________________________________________________________________________

From The Handbook:

Trick #1: Sea-Monkey Hypnotism
As Sea-Monkeys® are light responsive you can just move a light back and forth and they will respond Turn off all the lights in the room. Hold up a candle or a flashlight. Move the light around and issue commands to the Sea-Monkeys® such as "move left" or "move right". For instance, if you move the light to the right the Sea-Monkeys® will move to the right. If you move the light to the left the Sea-Monkeys®...well, you get the idea. The book suggests that you use some type of "patter" such as "Binky follow my light, you are now hypnotized" and use such jokes as "What do you feed a 2000 lb Sea-Monkey®? Whatever he wants!" to entertain your audience. I would suggest avoiding such terrible jokes as the Sea-Monkeys® might all throw up and die! Try stealing jokes from Seinfeld or the Simpsons for a better response.

Trick #2: Acrobatic Sea-Monkeys
Put your Sea-Monkeys in a box to prevent almost all light from entering to the aquarium. Make sure that you are in a very well lit room.Wait at least one hour for your Sea-Monkeys to adjust to the new lighting, and gather all who wants to view, when everyone is ready, tell them they are going to see your Sea-Monkeys become very active and 'perform' acrobatics instead of just swimming around slowly. When ready, remove the box and the Sea-Monkeys will now be exposed to the light. Instantly, the Sea-Monkeys become very excited and start to swim faster, and do flips, turns, etc., creating the illusion of acrobatics.
________________________________________________________________________

So I have decided to get a Virtual Sea Monkey, on a trial basis. If he is good, I might get my very own REAL Sea Monkey! Because I would like to try to hypnotize my Sea Monkey.

Meet 'George'
my adopted
Sea-Monkey!

Thursday Thirteen, Edition #9

Here are thirteen pets my Mommie has had:

  1. Her very first pet was a bunch of snails that she kept in a jar when she was a very little girl. I have been thinking I might like to get some snails for my very own pet.
  2. Then she got some of those little turtles. There were three of them: one for her, and one for each of her brothers. Her turtle was named Myrtle. When they went outside in their little pond to get some sun on their shells, BIRDS PECKED THEIR HEADS OFF!
  3. Her Gramma got her some Sea Monkeys. You just add water to make them come alive. These were a disappointment, because she found out they were not really monkeys. They were not even very cute. They did live in the sea though. The Sea Monkeys never even did any of the tricks they showed on the back of the comic books. Just FYI: the x-ray glasses were a disappointment too.
  4. Then she had an apricot toy poodle. His name was Andy. Or Andrew. Or Rooney.
  5. When she went to U.C. Davis, she lived in a dormitory. They allowed small pets. So she got a guinea pig. Her name was Mrs. Bill, named after the character on Saturday Night Live. One day Mrs. Bill chewed up the arm on her jacket. Ohhhh Noooooooo! Mrs. Bill!
  6. The next pet was a hamster. His name was Percival. You could call him Percy for short. He made a big mess in his cage. And he stuffed his cheeks with food. What a nut!
  7. Then there was a gerbil. His name was Skippy. My Mommie lived in California at the time, and it is illegal to own a gerbil there. So she went to Nevada, bought one there, and smuggled him across the border! I guess he was an outlaw gerbil.
  8. Next was the first cat. It was a black cat named Slinky. She was a stray kitten, and my Mommie got her from the U.C. Davis Veterinary school. Slinky eventually got diabetes, and had to have insulin injections every day! And she went potty on the carpet. She was bad.
  9. Then there was the great Haiku. She was a very beautiful chocolate point Siamese, and my Mommie loved her very, very much. She got kidney disease and died when she was only 4 years old.
  10. There was also a big fish tank full of African Cichlids. I never got to meet them, but I guess they were very pretty fish. A Loach lived with the Cichlids. When they moved away from California, the fish did not go with them. Since this was almost 20 years ago, the fish are probably not still alive. But I am not sure.
  11. Then my Mommie got Cricket. He was another chocolate point Siamese, and he was a very sweet cat. Sometimes she called him Crickettoni. He lived to be 16 years old. But my Mommie wished it was a lot longer.
  12. Next came my big sister, Pixie. You already know all about her.
  13. I'll bet you can guess who is the last, and very best pet. You are right, it is ME! Daisy!

My First Surgery....

I have been so busy lately, I have not been studying as hard as I should. And this is not good, because Jeter Harris' little brother, Matsui, needs his hoo-hah-ectomy in March. And I have agreed to do the procedure for him. So, here I am studying again. I have my sleeping bag, because I think I need to do an all-nighter. Here I am figuring out exactly what procedure to do. If you click to enlarge, you can see the choices.... I think I have decided I will do CPT 55250.
Here I am getting my surgical tools ready. Hey, Matsui! What color thread do you want for your sutures?

Fishie Flakes!!!

When we mentioned that we had never had fishie flakes before, our friends Yuki and Kimiko from Kazoku Neko sent us some! And they were very delicious!
We would like to thank the Bonito who gave up his flakes for us, yum yum!
But most of all, we would like to thank Yuki and Kimiko for the tasty treat!

Tummy Tuesday

It has been almost a whole month since I had my bladder-stone-removal surgery. I am beginning to wonder if the furs on my tummy will ever grow back. This picture was taken just a couple of days ago. And my undercarriage is still bald. Even the shaved patch on my arm is still bald! And what's up with this big dent in the middle of my belly? It's right where the sutures were. I am all healed up and feel great, but I have this funny dent. Maybe I can use it to store my pocket change.
I guess it is OK, because Skeezix does not mind my bald belly. Also, I am kind of like Dragonheart now, and he looks very cute bald.

Our New Gang: The Pink Ladies

Kaze, Tara and I have decided to form a gang for ladies. We will call it The Pink Ladies. It is mainly for having fun, singing and dancing. Our gang will be a little edgy, but we will not get into too much trouble. As Kaze says, we will only do outlaw-ish things in the name of love. We might also do some good deeds.

Why I got in SERIOUS trouble this weekend...

I tried to blame this on Pixie, but it didn't work. Because some evidence got on me.

Photo Hunters #6: ANTIQUE

The Photo Hunters theme this week is antique. Do not ask me why, but my Mommie collects antique monkeys, and organ grinder monkey memorabilia. Here is an organ grinder monkey's hat, and the special leather hatbox it goes inside of. A REAL monkey used to wear this hat. Here is another kind of organ grinder monkey's hat. This one is made of felt instead of leather. And this is the little cup the monkey would use to collect his coins in. There is a special lip on the end of the cup so the coins wouldn't fall out if the monkey was not careful. Those monkeys must have been dumb to lose their change!
And here are a bunch of old wind up monkeys. Each monkey does a different crazy thing like: comb his hair, tip his hat, or move his baton. Of course, my favorite is the clown monkey!

Thursday Thirteen #8

I would like to introduce you to thirteen cats at the no-kill cat rescue shelter where my Mommie volunteers:

1. This is Baby. She is very special, because she was a foster cat in our house for a while. She has had a very hard life, and almost died. Baby used to weigh only 4#. She has gained weight now, but she gets sick a lot. Poor sweet Baby, we love you.

2. This is one of the kittens, Lady Heather. She had ringworm for a while! But she is better, and now she has been adopted. Yay!

3. This is one of the new kittens. He is very friendly and cute. I do not know his name yet. But he will probably be adopted very soon.

4. My Mommie is holding another kitten, Sarah. She is the sister to Lady Heather. She had ringworm too (the kitten, not my Mommie). Sarah has already been adopted by the same people who adopted Lady Heather!!

5. and 6. Batman is the cute orange kitten in front. Behind him is Toonces. He knows how to drive a car!

7. This is Silly. His brother's name is Putty. They are still looking for a home too.

8. And here is the sweet Koda. He looks kind of like Skeezix. I think they might be cousins or something. My Mommie always gives him extra hugs and kisses. He can't be adopted yet because he got sick, and then he got a skin infection. Everyone loves Koda.

9. Here is Laurel. He is Hardy's brother. They like to hang around where the action is!

10. This is Sassy. Her coat is beautiful. She was very shy at first, but now she has come out of her shell. I hope she gets a home soon.

11. This is Cricket. He has been at the shelter for a long time. He is a little shy. Here he is waiting for dinner. And his forever home.

12. His name is Peep. He hangs around up top with the feral cats. I think he has a very handsome, expressive face. And he loves Temptations!

13. Meet Chrissy. She is a beautiful calico!

There are actually over 70 cats there, so this is just a very small sampling of the wonderful cats who live at the shelter waiting for their forever homes.
